This page contains videos and pre-recorded webinars with information on specific cloud computing tools. Organizations may wish to view these videos prior to attending an Innoweave Cloud Computing workshop.

What is the Cloud?

Cloud computing can fulfill many different functions, which can supplement or replace the IT systems used in most office environments.

Introductory videos:

Cloud Security

Idealware addresses some concerns over cloud security in this brief video, which explains the risks and benefits associated with cloud-based data storage.

Productivity Suites

In the following videos, Rahi Delvi, of Grantbook, describes specific functions offered by cloud computing applications, including:

  • Supporting basic office functions, such as creating a shared calendar and improving internal communications through the use of a productivity suite;
  • Managing relationships with partners and clients through the use of a customer relationship management system; and
  • Managing documents across your team and network through the use of an online document storage system.

Each of these specific examples is supported by a demonstration provided by a non-profit leader who has implemented the specific tool in question.

In Part 2, Juniper Glass of Girls Action Foundation provides an overview of Girls Action Foundation's use of Salesforce, a popular customer relationship management system. The demo includes tracking contacts and prospective participants, donors, and other valuable relationships.

Customer Relationship Management Tools

In Part 1, Rahi Delvi presents an overview of productivity suites, including information about Google Apps.

In Part 2, Melissa Watkins of FarmStart demonstrates FarmStart's use of Google Apps. FarmStart was founded in 2006 as a small organization with 3 staff members working remotely. To develop an organization that was both nimble and adaptable, they turned to Google Apps for their email and calendar needs. Since then, they have integrated other Google Apps, such as Google Chat and Google Drive into their organization. While the organization has grown to 9 staff members and opened an office, these tools are used by all staff both at work and remotely. In this demo (starting at 27:00), Melissa Watkins demonstrates how FarmStart uses Google Apps on a daily basis, including Google email, calendar, and Google Drive.

Document Storage Systems

Rahi Delvi, of Grantbook, provides and overview of online document storage systems. Geraldine Cahill of Social Innovation Generation (SiG) provides a demonstration of SiG's use of Box.com, including as a storage system for the SiG Knowledge Hub
