Catherine has worked in management and consulting with social economy organizations for over 25 years, balancing grass roots community support with research and knowledge creation at the national, provincial and regional levels.
A seasoned facilitator, presenter and adult educator, Catherine has offered workshops and webinars related to impact measurement, social enterprise, organizational learning and evaluation, non-profit sustainability, and collaboration. She has designed multiple tools and guides, among them: Innovation Pathways: Tools for Rural & Northern Community Innovation; Strengthening Collaboration in the Not-for-Profit Sector (Ontario Trillium Foundation); Minds at Work tools for job developers working with discouraged workers; and an online platform for nonprofit collaboration called Collaboration Coach.
Catherine is a social enterprise coach and an editor of the Canadian Social Enterprise Guide. She co-founded the Ontario-based Rural Social Enterprise Constellation (RSEC) and co-authored multiple papers focused on rural social enterprise development and policy. She has consulted with numerous urban and rural social enterprises through her practice and with intermediaries including: Innoweave (McConnell Foundation); the Toronto Enterprise Fund; Georgian College Centre for Changemaking and Social Innovation and the Henry Bernick Entrepreneurship Centre; and Peel United Way.
As an evaluator Catherine has worked with diverse community-based organizations as well as their funders to inform and assess their impact and help them to communicate their impact stories.
She holds a Masters degree in Adult Education as well as a BA in Sociology and Philosophy and a Bachelor of Social Work.
