Biography

Hilary Henegar (she/her) is a brand, culture and engagement strategist, coach and facilitator for social enterprises, impact organizations and women-identifying social entrepreneurs. She has spent much of the last 15 years building and growing businesses, not-for-profits and communities rooted in social impact, particularly in the sharing economy – from carsharing and indie cinema to family-friendly coworking and crowdfunding.

Hilary currently works with Purppl, a social enterprise that coaches, consults, and collaborates with social entrepreneurs and impact leaders to build regenerative enterprises and initiatives that address systemic inequity. As one of Purppl’s Entrepreneurs In Residence (EIRs), she works with leaders to build skills and confidence in impact strategy, measurement and storytelling, and organizational development. She also serves as Purppl’s Storytelling and Communications Lead.

She has a BFA in Film from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and a certificate in Community Capacity Building from Simon Fraser University. She is currently working towards professional certification in the Trauma of Money Method, a compassionate, holistic approach that heals psychological traumas to create financial safety and well-being, in pursuit of liberation for all peoples.

A settler born on the traditional, ancestral, stolen lands and waters of the myaamiaki, Lënape, Bodwéwadmik and saawanwa people (Bloomington, Indiana, USA), Hilary and her young family are grateful to live in Quw’utsun territory (Duncan, BC, Canada).

Hilary centres relationships, storywork, and embodiment to call forward a world beyond extractive capitalism, where collective abundance is defined by personal definitions of wealth and wellbeing.
