Annelies is the Founder and Director of Roots & Rivers, a social innovation consultancy.

Roots and Rivers Consulting’s mission is to help social purpose organizations design, implement and strengthen solutions to complex social challenges. Community impact is at the core of everything Roots & Rivers does, and Annelies and her team support organizations to achieve and capture impact through strategic planning, facilitation, and evaluation.

As a DE and Impact Measurement coach, Annelies brings a commitment to reflection, learning, data, and communication to all of her work. She has over a decade of experience designing and conducting evaluations at local and national scales, and her background as an engineer helps her bring evidence-based decision-making support to clients. Her work includes providing multi-year developmental evaluation support to social labs and social innovation initiatives, in addition to conducting summative and formative evaluations of programs, initiatives and events. Annelies works with clients to design evaluation frameworks and tools, conduct and support evaluative practices, and synthesize data to provide insights that inform strategy development and decision making. Annelies can also help social purpose organizations align to the Common Foundations for Impact Measurement.

As a Collective Impact coach, Annelies helps organizations navigate a path towards achieving meaningful and sustained impact. Annelies takes a systems approach to change, and rather than supporting clients to put bandaids on problems, helps them tackle the root causes of issues, and establish and expand bold solutions to stuck challenges. Through Roots & Rivers, the team has developed strategic plans and led strategic processes for over 20 organizations, and many boards and teams have said that as a result of this support they are finally pulling in the same direction for the first time as a team. Establishing clear vision, mission, values, theory of change, strategic priorities, operational plans, OKRs, and decision-making rubrics, are all components of Roots & Rivers’ strong strategic planning processes.
