Ian Capstick is a social entrepreneur, strategist and storyteller.
His early career in politics allowed him to travel the country extensively, learning to listen to folks and work step by step to solve problems. After founding his first company, he spent eight seasons as a contributor to CBC’s flagship political program Power & Politics. Outside of politics, he has managed communications for top Canadian corporations, major unions and well known Canadians and media-figures. He is currently the Lead Impact Officer at Animikii.
Ian is passionate about creating social change through communications. An experienced campaign manager, media coach, political tactician he is quoted widely in Canada’s media.
He was a regular on CBC News Channel’s Power & Politics for eight years and is a go-to source for comment on the changing world of communications and the intersections with mental health. His opinion work has been published in the Ottawa Citizen, The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s and local newspapers across Canada. He has been featured on CTV National News, CBC’s The National and was on Global’s national election coverage team in 2011.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s Centre for Social Impact Strategy (2017), Ian returned to the center as a Teaching Fellow (2018-2020).
