Biography

Jill is a participatory process designer, a facilitator, and a coach. She has over two decades of experience supporting multi-stakeholder groups to address complex social issues and effect meaningful change.

Jill designs and facilitates processes that bring people from across backgrounds and sectors together around a complex challenge. These diverse stakeholders find shared understanding and a common purpose, co-create and test new models, and implement high-potential solutions. As a certified coach, Jill takes a coaching approach to all her work, seeking to ensure that any initiative she is involved in strengthens the capacity of the group.

Jill has designed and taught courses at the post-secondary level in social innovation and systems change, and has been sought out to present on these topics internationally. Jill is currently pursuing a Doctor of Social Sciences at Royal Roads University, which focuses on complex, real world challenges of direct concern to organizations, communities and society.

Jill’s own background bridges sectors and disciplines. Prior to moving back to Winnipeg in December 2018, Jill was the founding Director of Mount Royal University’s social innovation centre – the Trico Changemakers Studio. Jill continues to partner with the Studio on a number of projects. Jill got to know Mount Royal University (MRU) through her role as a Changemaker in Residence, during which time she facilitated an intensive, whole-systems process that culminated in the recognition of MRU as an Ashoka U Changemaker Campus.

As Director of Creating Value, a social purpose consultancy she founded in 2007, Jill and her team have worked with clients from the private, public and non-profit sectors to amplify their impact through strategy, collective impact, social enterprise, and social innovation labs. Jill has been an Innoweave coach with the Social Enterprise and Collective Impact modules since 2014.

Outside of work, Jill appreciates time on her yoga mat, paddling, running, skiing or snowshoeing
with family and friends.
