Melek spent the early years in her career in private sector, gaining experience in management consultancy, sales, market research, human resources and project management.
Her non-profit experience of 20 years has focused on programs and projects that invest in the next generation, by supporting the development and empowerment of young people. She has taken on roles in governance, operations, change management and strategy development.
In the past 7 years, she has focused her work on impact measurement and management. She built from ground up the impact measurement strategy and tools to demonstrate the impact of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award worldwide. Melek has further developed her expertise in impact measurement in the context of impact investing and she is currently supporting Turkey’s first impact investing platform Etkiyap in building capacity in this field.
Melek has a BSc in Business Administration from the Middle East Technical University in Turkey and an MSc in Social Psychology from the University of Surrey in the UK. She is a Social Return on Investment (SROI) practitioner and a member of the American Evaluation Association (AEA). She has recently completed courses on Strategic Foresight with OCAD and The Futures School and interested in supporting organizations in being active players in planning their futures.
