Biographie

Cindy Fuchs, CPHR, after 35 years of serving the Canadian Red Cross brings her passion and experience to the newly created Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation (SRF) as their Executive Director.

Utilizing her background in leadership, external partnerships and fundraising she is set to lead the SRF to achieve its mission.

The mission of the SRF is to empower youth and communities through the passion of Rider Nation.

Cindy with her charitable experience will be able to fulfill its mandate to give back to the communities of Saskatchewan.

The first initiative that Cindy is leading is the partnership with the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation with the launch of the Touchdown For Kids Millionaire Lottery.

Cindy is very proud of her Cree name “Iliwitsew” which means smart intelligent women and her University of Regina Presidents Community Award in 2015.

Cindy is one of the most respected and experienced disaster response leaders in Saskatchewan.

In 35 years with the Canadian Red Cross, Cindy was a key contributor to the strategy, operational response and recovery associated with multiple major disasters across Canada. She also participated in the institution’s response to several international disasters, including 9/11, Haiti Earthquake, and SAR’s. In Canada she lead many groups of volunteers, staff and local groups and Government officials in response to B.C Fires in 2005, Alberta Floods, 2015 Saskatchewan Wildfires and the most recently the Ontario fire evacuation to Saskatchewan.

Cindy possesses a long history of managing, leading, coaching and mentoring – both for colleagues at Red Cross and for leaders of other organizations. Using her National Designation in Human Resources she has voluntarily coached a number of organizations and businesses in HR practices and leadership.

Cindy believes the keys to responding effectively in a crisis are: Remain calm, plan ahead and support your people….both clients and personnel.
She believes the management attributes that matter most in a crisis are: Strong Leadership which includes strong communication skills and the ability to lead a team in ever changing times.

Cindy is now Executive Director of the newly-minted Saskatchewan Roughrider Foundation – which aspires to enhance the charitable arm of the Saskatchewan ‘roughrider Football Club by support Youth programs in Amateur football, Health and Education.
