Biographie

Leslie has worked in dynamic environments for over thirty years, providing humanitarian leadership to overcome challenges during a variety of Canadian and global complex crises with the Red Cross.

Leslie has provided leadership during complex emergency responses, including rapid scaling of operations, (in both conflict and non-conflict settings), security and risk management and effective organizational development and transformation. She has helped to strengthen the response capacity and resilience of local organizations, facilitated multi-stakeholder coordination, forged partnerships and strengthened inter-intra organizational relationships.

Leslie works with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), serving in many operational conflict settings and at the Geneva headquarters. She has also led Canadian Red Cross disaster preparedness, response and recovery teams and efforts in Western and Northern Canada. She helps local organizations prepare for and respond to emergencies, and to operate safely in conflict and insecure environments.

Leslie formulated the Safer Access framework and suite of materials through a global consultation and engagement process. These materials have proven useful for local organizations to increase safer access in sensitive and insecure contexts. She also co-led the development of the Canadian Red Cross migrant protection program which monitors the condition and treatment of detained migrants in Canada. She provides a diverse array of perspectives and experiences that have contributed to a track record of guiding organizations to effectively manage the numerous challenges associated with complex situations.
